Life

Once I read in a magazine that philosophy can only be good for the people if they can apply it their life.
Thinking about this, the first thing that came in my mind was the secular spirituality. The planet would be a better to live on if there were more secular spirituality, as said in the imagine song:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

Have you already heard about the Odyssey(in Portuguese: Odisséia)?
Do you remember Calypso?  The nymph who detained Odysseus (Ulisses) for many years? She offered to him eternal youth if he stayed in the island with her, but guess what? Odysseus said no. The Island of Ogygia was not his place, he rather die as a normal mortal to live the rest of the days there. This is really a big thing. One message of this passage is that it's much better to live a good mortal life than to have a failed immortal life.
Thats what I mean when I talk about the secular religious...  Nowadays we live more than ever a disillusion with the world, trying to find meaning in illusions, like a guy who suicided after watching the Avatar movie, saying that he wanted to live there, in Pandora, not here on Earth... Foolish thing...
Wouldn't it be rather better if everyone made the same choice as Odysseus? Choosing to have a good life, in harmony with each other and with the world? That is what secular religious is about, choosing to leave in peace with each other, to live our lives now and then, to be happy and to make a better world...

You may say
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will be as one...
